Utah AG’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Ends Relationship With Operation Underground Railroad

The split comes amid a criminal investigation into Operation Underground Railroad and an internal review examining the organization’s relationship with Utah’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force

ACJ EXCLUSIVE: The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has begun its own, internal investigation into the relationship between its ICAC unit and OUR.

Utah’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force has ended its relationship with Operation Underground Railroad (OUR), marking another significant development in the growing scrutiny surrounding the organization and its founder, Tim Ballard.

The decision comes after the Davis County Attorney’s Office launched a criminal investigation into Operation Underground Railroad. According to information obtained by American Crime Journal, portions of that investigation involve the relationship between OUR and Utah’s ICAC Task Force.

This video report also examines a separate internal review being conducted by the Utah Attorney General’s Office regarding interactions between its ICAC unit and Operation Underground Railroad.

The situation presents unique challenges for state officials because Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes has maintained a longstanding public association with Operation Underground Railroad and Tim Ballard. As a result, questions surrounding the organization’s relationship with state law enforcement agencies have become a matter of increasing public interest.

This report examines what is known about the separation between Utah’s ICAC Task Force and Operation Underground Railroad, the ongoing investigations, and the broader implications for one of the nation’s most visible anti-trafficking organizations.
