Las Vegas Metropolitan PD Human Trafficking Task Force calls out O.U.R.

Just days before World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Human Trafficking Task Force publicly challenged O.U.R.’s claims, warning that misinformation, fundraising, and publicity can distort the realities of human trafficking

July 27, 2020, just three days before the World Day against Trafficking in Persons was to take place nationwide- the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Human Trafficking Task Force issued a public statement once again correcting the unfounded claims of Tim Ballard and Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.); who continues to deliberately misrepresent human trafficking and their core mission.

The LVMPD Human Trafficking Task Force stated that “[human Trafficking] has also become profitable for some seeking grant money and donations under the guise of providing services to victims“.

“Rise Up For Children” or just “Rise Up!” was their battle-cry for fundraisers for the days leading up to, and especially on July 30, 2020, where O.U.R. held events across the United States for their World Day Against Trafficking in Persons fundraiser extravaganza.

One event was held in Las Vegas at Alyn Beck Memorial Park, however, Tim Ballard attended the Get Loud and Rise Up! event in St. George, Utah, event in his helicopter (supposedly a donation to O.U.R.).

A Facebook post from the LVMPD Human Trafficking Task Force discussing the complexity and misconceptions surrounding human trafficking, emphasizing the importance of reliable data and context in understanding the issue.

Human Trafficking is a money maker for the traffickers, more profitable than selling drugs and guns. Unfortunately, it has also become profitable for some seeking grant money and donations under the guise of providing services to victims
