
Nicholas Bott, 44(Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department)
LAS VEGAS—A Las Vegas middle school substitute employee, recently arrested for unlawful contact with a minor, has died, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has reported.
The Clark County School District (CCSD) Police Department arrested 44-year-old Nicholas Bott on Thursday, May 16, following an investigation that began at Ernest A. Becker Sr. Middle School on Tuesday, May 14.
Bott, who had been a substitute teacher at Becker Middle School in the since April 2016, was immediately removed from CCSD’s substitute pool and barred from future employment within the District. Becker Middle School is in the Summerlin community of Las Vegas.
Just days after his arrest, Nicholas Bott was found dead. According to the Clark County Coroner’s Office, Bott died of a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head on Saturday, May 18. His death has been ruled a suicide.
Court records indicate that Bott posted bail on Friday, May 17, and was scheduled to appear in court again on Thursday, June 20. He had been charged with child abuse and unlawful contact with a minor.
Since his arrest, Summerlin residents have been left reeling, as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case.
