Attorneys for Former Miss Utah Condemn Tim Ballard’s Frivolous, Retaliatory, and Repugnant Lawsuit
Update 9/28/2024: To include the supplemental filing
On Wednesday, Tim Ballard, founder of Operation Underground Railroad and self-styled crusader against human trafficking, launched a defamation suit against former Miss Utah, Amy Davis, while hinting at broader legal reprisals against other women accusing him of sexual misconduct.
Davis is one of five women who filed a lawsuit against Ballard in October last year, accusing him of exploiting a deceptive scheme—ostensibly designed to entrap child traffickers—to coerce them into sexual encounters. While initially anonymous, Davis and the other plaintiffs have since come forward publicly, most recently in a New York Times exposé earlier this month.
In a legal filing dated September 26, 2024, attorneys for Amy Davis and the other women accusing Tim Ballard—Suzette Rasmussen and Alan Mortensen—forcefully rebutted Ballard’s false and misleading claims. The filing marks a pointed response to what appears to be a calculated attempt by Tim Ballard and Chad Kolton to shift the narrative surrounding the disgraced anti-trafficking figurehead.
