An examination of Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes’ relationship with Operation Underground Railroad and the accountability questions surrounding the organization
Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes has positioned himself as a leading voice in the fight against human trafficking. But critics argue that his close association with Operation Underground Railroad (OUR) raises serious questions about oversight, accountability, and the organization’s public claims.
In this video-op ed, veteran investigative journalist Lynn Packer examines the relationship between Reyes and OUR founder Tim Ballard, along with growing concerns surrounding the nonprofit’s fundraising, operations, and public representations. The report includes commentary from a former FBI agent who sharply criticizes both Ballard and Reyes, questioning the credibility of claims that helped fuel the organization’s rise.
As scrutiny of Operation Underground Railroad intensified, questions emerged about whether public officials were adequately vetting the claims they promoted and whether the organization’s narratives were being accepted without sufficient verification.
Editor’s Note: Lynn Packer is an award-winning investigative reporter, television news consultant, law consultant and author of “Lying for the Lord: The Paul H. Dunn Stories“. Mr. Packer graduated from Utah State University with a broadcast journalism degree.
